About the speakerDr. Sara Beery uses technology to address conservation and sustainability challenges. Her research develops computer vision methods for global-scale environmental and biodiversity monitoring, tackling issues like domain shift, imperfect data, and long-tailed distributions.

Talk overview: Biodiversity is crucial for sustainable development, public health, and mitigating climate change, yet we are facing an unprecedented loss. Dr. Beery will discuss how AI can facilitate the efficient extraction of scientific insights from massive amounts of natural-world data collected by sensors, satellites, and drones. She will explore the challenges posed by real-world data and present exciting new research directions that aim to enable global-scale, near-real-time biodiversity monitoring.

Moderator: Dr. Tanya Berger-Wolf is a Professor of Computer Science Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology at the Ohio State University

We encourage you to join this insightful discussion on how cutting-edge AI research can support conservation efforts and biodiversity monitoring.
